Just as we pack away our opaque tights, put our heavy winter coats to the back of the wardrobe and retire the thermals for a few seasons, spring means making changes to our hair too. Whether that’s a brand new colour, updated cut or just a new way of styling, here are our predictions for the biggest hair hits of spring 2022.

Natural texture

Working with what you have is going to be big and we love it as it’s fab for the condition of your hair, and once you master the best routine for you, it’s also super easy. Kick started by social media trends, many of us have realised we have curls or waves we’ve been denying for years! If that sounds like you then concentrate on getting as much moisture as possible into your hair and ban the brush when wet. Instead, use a wide toothed comb on damp hair and then allow to air dry.

Try: Our Happy Naturals Curl Defining Shampoo which contains shea butter and olive extract to help define and moisturise curls.

Sleek buns

The most wearable way to do the wet-look trend; a sleek and chic pulled-back bun is perfect for those skip-the-shampoo days and you can even wear one whilst treating your hair to a deep conditioning treatment. To make it 2022, keep it low slung with a deep side parting.

Try: For sleek bun Sundays, apply our Argan+ Rescue and Repair Hair Mask to damp lengths while you chill, then wash out in the evening for a super nourished start to the week.

The return of layers

With the return of all things 90s and Y2K, it was only a matter of time before one of the most iconic haircuts of all time made its return. Say hello again to the Rachel. The choppy, face framing layers sported by Jennifer Aniston as Rachel Green in Friends sent millions of us rushing to our hairdresser and the reboot of her look is about to do exactly the same. A good way to change up your look without having to lose loads of length, it’s a style that works with most hair types and textures too.

Wispy fringes

Curtain bangs were the breakout hair hero of 2021. We adored them for their flattering versatility and 70s sexiness, and the good news is, they aren’t going anywhere. Updated for 2022, this spring’s take on the curtain bang is a lighter, softer version of the trend. Combine with any length hair for a romantic pretty look that adds lots of movement and texture.

Try: A tiny dab of our Fish Soho Volume Shape Texturising Cream applied to the ends of your bangs and layers will give some cool-girl definition.

80s curls

The big and bouncy blow out curl has had an impressively long run, but this spring might just be the season it loses its allure. We’ve seen lots of hints on social media and celebrities that the micro corkscrew curl, achieved with a chopstick tong, might just be the surprise hit of 2022. Tricky to pull off when down; modernise it by piling it into an updo (the more undone the better). Shine and condition is key for this reworking of the classic 80s look - avoid the dry and crunchy effect by using styling products that put plenty of moisture back in.

Chunky highlights

Another blast from the past - this time around it’s wide, bold stripes of colour expertly applied to add the appearance of thickness and dimension to the hair. Not quite Geri Halliwell at the peak of the Spice Girls but a lot less subtle than the baby-lights we’ve seen for the last few years. Think SJP and her deliciously thick blonde streaks in And Just Like That.
