It’s the day of unearthing the ancient tin of golden syrup…

Picking up your failed attempts from the floor/dogs head/ceiling and wondering why you didn’t just buy the ready-made mix? Yes, it’s Pancake Day and we hope you’re enjoying it.

What we really want to know is, how do you eat yours? Whether you’re a lemon and sugar traditionalist or more of a ‘how high can I pile it’ type, there’s a pancake out there with your name on it. However, here at The Unexpekted, we prefer our sweet treats to come with a side order of pampering. Take a look at our edit of the most delicious bath and body buys… all without a calorie in sight.

Dirty Works Sweet Sweet Scrubbin’ Sugar Scrub

Harnessing the naturally exfoliating benefits of sugar, this beyond delicious Dirty Works body scrub leaves your skin not only oh-so soft but also scented like the best cake you ever had.

Papaya and coconut extracts add further to the yumminess (maybe a topping idea for pancake number four tbh) and also work to serve a generous hit of hydration; perfect for a pre-spring boost for skin that’s been hidden in hibernation all winter or as a fab addition to your self-tan prep regime.

Our recipe: Scoop a generous handful onto damp skin in the shower. Our tip is to turn the water off for a few minutes while you scrub to stop it going down the drain before it’s done its magic. Add a little more oomph on dry areas like the heels and elbows for a top-to-toe super soft finish.

Dirty Works In Good Hands Hand Cream

There’s nothing like a sweet scented hand cream to give you a quick sugar fix on-the-go (well, apart from a full box of doughnuts, but we’re trying to cut down…).

Scented with a combo of peach, jasmine and vanilla, the Dirty Works In Good Hands Hand Cream is an addictively gourmand (FYI – a posh fragrance word for good enough to eat) treat that you’ll quickly fall in love with. Not just a pretty face, it also works super hard to hydrate with a blend of nourishing ingredients including coconut oil, Pro Vitamin B5 and Vitamin E.

Our recipe: Keep your hand cream deskside or close to wherever you’re working and treat each application as a little bit of a self-care timeout. Take a few minutes to mindfully apply and massage in whilst taking a couple of calming deep breaths, noticing how the mouth-watering scent makes you feel. Pay extra attention to wherever you feel tension in your hands - commonly the base of your palms and your wrist joints - and spend a little longer on these areas.

What to expect? The sweet treat high of your 3pm biscuit fix with none of the afternoon sugar slump.

Go Balmy Lip Balm Trio

Some studies have shown that inhaling something sweet scented may help with cravings for sugary snacks, so if you want the closest feeling to an edible treat then a tasty smelling lip balm should hit the sweet spot.

Our Get Fruity Go Balmy Trio contains three yummy flavours - peach, coconut and cherry. They lock in moisture, help prevent lips drying out and leave lips with a subtle sheen. All that for less than you paid for those emergency eggs on the way home!

Our recipe: Stuck with no makeup bag and only a lip balm in your pocket? You’ll be surprised at the multi purposes your humble balm has. Use a tiny bit warmed between your fingers to slick down unruly hairs, apply with a spoolie as a makeshift eyebrow gel, dab a little on your cheekbones for a highlighting effect, or massage into dry cuticles for a nail treatment.
