From homemade presents to grooming goodies, here's how to spoil dad for less than a fiver…

We're all feeling the pinch right now, but that doesn't mean you can't make Father's Day 2022 one to remember. These budget-friendly gift ideas are guaranteed to put a smile on his face.

1. Create a keepsake book

Hand-crafted gifts make for a present that money can't buy but, while photo albums are a surefire winner, there are other clever alternatives, too.

Try compiling a unique recipe book featuring his favourite home dinners, DIY versions of his most-loved restaurant meals, and recipes passed down through the generations of your family.

If your kids love getting arty, collate some of their best masterpieces or get them to write him a poem.

2. Under-£5 skincare for him

Whether he's a grooming addict or a total skincare-phobe, we've got something for every dad. Think - hard-working formulas that really do the job and luxe-look packaging he'll be proud to show off in his bathroom.

A good cleanser and moisturiser should be staples at any age. Our wonder duo? The Real Shaving Co Anti-Ageing Sensitive Moisturiser and Real Shaving Co Rejuvenating Face Wash & Scrub.

The latter combats the visible effects of pollution, sweat, oil and dirt, leaving skin brighter, firmer and clearer. Walnut shell powder buffs away dead skin cells and cleanses deep down, while aloe vera, Vitamin E and anti-ageing pea peptides calm irritation and moisturise. Clever stuff, right? It's perfect for using daily, but the cleanser really comes into its own pre-shaving, giving a super smooth finish.

The moisturiser offers hydration without a greasy feeling. It's just the ticket for faces left sensitised after regular shaving and stars a smart cocktail of soothing ingredients including allantoin, bisabolol and willowherb.

Want to treat dad to a slice of me-time? Gift him the BARBER PRO Super Eye Mask - ideal for kicking back with a cuppa (or pint!). It gets to work on tired and puffy peepers in just 20 minutes, leaving them seriously cooled and revitalized, especially when stored in the fridge first. New dads, we're looking at you...

3. Make your own vouchers

There's only so many cups of tea you can make in one Sunday. Instead, why not give your dad vouchers for treats he can enjoy all year long?

Promise him breakfast in bed, a free car wash, a night in charge of Netflix or – the ultimate luxury if the kids are still young – one hour spent alone in silence. Dreamy!

4. More bargain grooming goodies

For some full-body pampering, there's the brilliant DrSALTS+ range that harnesses the many benefits of Epsom salts for the ultimate 'ahh' feeling on both body and mind.

Fitness fans will rate the DrSALTS+ Post Workout Therapy Shower Gel, bursting with energising black pepper to help rejuvenate aching muscles. Hello 'massage' in a bottle!

Kind Natured’s Awakening Kind Cleansing Scrub Bar makes another nifty pressie if you're on a budget. Enriched with zingy orange and grapefruit, it gently exfoliates skin while he washes.

Haircare more his thing? You can't go wrong with Fish Soho’s Original Stone Fish Sculpting Clay, masterminded by the people behind the uber-cool London salon of the same name. The matte finish keeps the clay looking natural on all, whether he's got a thinning top or a luscious head of locks. Just a pea-sized amount is all that's needed for round-the-clock hold.

5. Say it on screen

For the ultimate memento movie, combine throwback video clips with short messages from his friends and family. Ask them to talk about their favourite memories with him, why he makes a great dad or how they'd describe him in three words.

A seriously meaningful gift that he'll cherish forever.
